Cyn Grace Sylvie

Cyn Grace Sylvie (she/they) is a queer neurodivergent writer and spiritual educator whose work explores the internal drives and subversive desires of human experience, through the lens of mythology, sensuality, magic and mysticism. Cyn is a recipient of Epiphany Magazine’s 2017 Short Nonfiction Prize, and long-listed as a Notable Nonfiction Selection in ‘The Best American Essays of 2018’ (Mariner Books). Their writing has appeared in The Literary Review, The Dewdrop, Open Secrets Magazine, and The Rumpus. They are the founder of TAROT CHURCH, an educational movement that aims to destigmatize tarot across faith systems. They are first generation Italian-American diaspora, and reside in Jersey City, NJ.

The Collective Crystal Ball Is Once Again Open: Be A Part of Our Multimedia Poetry Installation!

I am delighted to announce that we will once again be presenting our interactive divination poetry project — and I would like YOU to be a part of it!

Orginally premiered at The New York City Poetry Festival, and most recently hosted at PIACE’s Festa Dei Lavoratori, Poetic Fortunes is an interactive poetry installation that brings to life a fortune-telling tent of old, reimagined as an interactive collective poetic divination system, where participants will be able to receive poetic fortunes and deliver poetic fortunes through an act of shared spontaneous poetry and generative art.

We are absolutely delighted to be able to present a new reimagining of this installation for The New York City Poetry Festival, embracing this year’s theme: A Modern Odyssey.

Let creativity guide your words! Be it a haiku, a limerick, an affirmation or inspiration, feel free to submit as many fortunes as your heart desires. All will be included in the fortune telling tent we will be presenting at Governor’s Island in on Governor’s Island for the entirety of the festival on July 18-19, 2026.

If you are in the area, you can attend the event in person, and interact with the art installation while also partaking in poetry, music performances, and presentations celebrating Italian culture. I will also be reading selections of my own work at the event with the Italian American Writers Association, IAWA.
